How To Find A Drive In Movie Theatre
The best way to find a drive in movie theatre is to turn to good ole Google.
Our favorite drive-in theatre actually closed down after several years which was such a bummer.
But we were able to do a bit of research on Google to find a new option.
If you aren’t sure if you have a drive-in movie theatre near you, look on Google.
It might end up being a bit of a drive to get to the theatre but it’s totally worth it. Especially if you follow these drive in movie date ideas that we are sharing with you.
What To Bring To A Drive In Movie Date
Over the years of going on several drive in movie dates, we have perfected our list of what to bring!
Follow along, because there are items on this list that you will greatly appreciate having with you on this date night.
#1 Pillows And Blankets
Having comfy pillows and blankets makes for a cozy drive in movie date experience. You can create a bed in the back of your vehicle or use the pillows and blankets in the front seat to snuggle under.
This blanket is super soft and cozy, perfect for a drive in movie date.
#2 Movie Snacks & Drinks
No movie experience is complete without your favorite movie snacks and drinks. Consider packing a small cooler with drinks and food for the evening.
#3 Lawn Chairs
Bring lawn chairs with you if you are planning on viewing the movie from outside of your vehicle. It will give you somewhere comfortable to sit while you watch the film.

I like bringing an old-fashioned handheld radio to the drive-in. This way we can listen to the movie on something other than the car radio. I find that I personally can hear the movie better this way and I like that with the radio we don’t need to have the car on for the entire movie.
This radio also comes in handy should you choose to watch the movie in a lawn chair and not in your car. Having a radio with you makes it so much easier to hear.
#5 Small Fan
In the summer the drive-in can get a bit toasty.
Having a small handheld fan can be a nice addition especially if you don’t want to keep your car running with the AC on throughout the movie.
We usually keep flashlights in our cars. At the drive-in, your will be happy to have your flashlights with you.
Drive-in theaters are typically pretty dark and flashlights come in handy should you need to walk to use the restroom or visit the concession stand. Flashlights also are helpful in the car if you are looking for something and don’t want to turn the car light on.
Drive-In Movie Car Setup
Depending on what type of vehicle you drive, how you set up your car will be a bit different.
If you drive a truck or an SUV, reversing into the parking spot at the drive-in is a great way to view the movie.
SUV Car Setup
With an SUV you can lie the seats down in the back of the car and use your pillows and blankets to create a cozy bed for you and your sweetie to snuggle while watching the movie out of the back.
If you do choose to watch from the back, keep in mind that typically you will need to keep the trunk of the car down so that it won’t be blocking anyone else’s view.
With a truck, you can do something similar and use the truck bed to create a cozy place to lie/sit down with pillows and blankets.
If you are driving a sedan there are 2 different options that work well.
Option 1: Push the front seats back as far as they can go and in a bit of a recline position. Use the pillows and blankets to make the front of the car nice and comfy.
Option 2: Push the front seats as far forward as they will go and get in the back of the car. You can create a cozy bed in the back with your pillows and blankets.
Drive In Movie Date Conversation Starters
To get a good viewing spot at the drive-in you’ll want to arrive early.
The earlier you get there, the more downtime you will have before the movie starts.
This downtime works as the perfect opportunity to enjoy some fun conversation starters with your sweetie. We always bring conversation cards with us to the drive-in. They are a great way to laugh and connect while waiting for the movie to start.

How To Cuddle At A Drive-In Movie
Cuddling at a drive in movie is one of the best parts of this date night idea!
Rom Coms and Scary movies typically make for the best cuddling genres on a drive in movie date. But any drive-in movie experience will give you the option for plenty of snuggles with your sweetie.
Creating a bed in the back of your SUV or truck is the best way to snuggle up with your significant other at the drive in. Especially if you choose to create a romantic ambiance using pillows and blankets.
The sedan experience is great as well. You will be close and cozy with your sweetie whether you choose to reach over the center console to hold hands or view the movie from the back seat.
Regardless of the type of vehicle that you are in, the drive-in leaves plenty of opportunity for some good cuddle time.
What To Wear On A Drive-In Movie Date
The attire for a drive-in movie date is one of my favorites!
It doesn’t get much comfier than wearing your favorite loungewear for a date night.
Something to note is that you may need to walk to the restroom or concession stand so you will want to wear something that you feel comfortable being seen in public in.
Drive In Movie Date Snacks
If you’re like me, you love any date night that includes some delicious snacks!
This drive in movie date is perfect for enjoying all your favorite treats.
Pack a small cooler and picnic basket with your favorite movie drinks and snacks.
Most drive-in movie theaters do not allow alcohol so do keep this in mind as you are packing your cooler.
